Students at Chis & Sid have done brilliantly in all three levels of the UK Maths Challenge this year.
At senior level for year 11, 12 and 13, students achieved 36 bronze, 21 silver and 2 gold certificates. Tudor Ciurca, year 12, had a near perfect score of 121 out of 125. Two year 12 students, Tudor Ciurca and Luke Dale, also qualified for the second round of the competition.
At intermediate level for year 9 and 10, students achieved 36 bronze, 29 silver and 7 gold certificates. Six students qualified for the second round and two of those achieved merit certificates.
Finally, at junior level for year 7 and 8, students achieved 10 bronze, 19 silver and 24 gold certificate. There were also a record breaking 12 students in year 8 qualified for the second round of the competition with three of those achieved merit certificates.
The UK Maths challenge, organised by the UK Maths Trust, is a national competition at three levels with nearly 500 000 students taking part each year. The top 60% scorers of the each level receives gold, silver and bronze certificates in the ratio of 1:2:3. The challenges, especially at senior level are used to identify the most able mathematicians under the age of 19 to be selected for the UK squad, who then will be competing at international mathematical Olympiad competitions.
